Have your heard?

Postby MagnumBrewing » Wed Apr 14, 2010 1:43 pm

I just wanted to pass a note to the group that an offical micro brewery is now open in Rancho Santa Margarita. The brewery is call Cismontane Brewing and they had their grand opening this past weekend on 4/10/10. I guess their tap room is open Saturday's 12 -7 and Sundays 12 -5. Go check out their blog at http://cismontanebrewing.blogspot.com/. No web site yet, I heard this brewery is a second job for the owner.

I believe so. We should ask the owner if we can have a meeting at his place. You never know.

Its not as big as Oggis..its actually quite small.. and I don't want to change locations anymore to eliminate any confusion.

I went by CIsmontane to try their beers and to see about meeting there and tell you the truth, I was unimpressed. I wouldn't even call their beers good. They were following in the tradition of the brewery before them. Unless its just a system issue, I really don't see them making it.

I bought a growler of the "Brown" ale or the Mild, they call it both and poured it for quite a few people this weekend and not one person said that is a beer they would buy. It has a weird after taste. I would call it mediocre homebrew but its definately not somehting that should be commercial.

The Pale ale is weak, the IPA is really a mediocre Pale Ale and they made a coffee stout that went way overboard on the coffee. Couldn't taste the beer.

Sorry, but I wont be going back for refills anytime soon.

Bummer to hear that Mark. Actually you aren't the only one that I know who has tried their beers and basically had the same comments. It's hard to enter the craft beer seen now, meaning you really need to pull off some good stuff. We have all simply become beer snobs which is fine by me!

I just hope that people around this area don't get turned off by craft beer now. We'll thanks for the review, might just hold off a couple of months for some fresher batches.
